"I think of a lot of people don't realize all the challenges that people in poverty just to move out of poverty is quite difficult. It's way beyond just getting a job, because they may have issues with child care and transportation and just all these other surrounding things that make holding a job difficult," explained Lance Detrick, President of Goodwill Easter Seals of Miami Valley. Those with Goodwill Easter Seals in the COPE training say the simulation is especially relevant here in Allen County.

Poverty is a big issue here in Allen County, Lima area, about one out of three Lima residents live in poverty, so it's kind of a way for people to sort of experience that and maybe they have a deeper experience of the problems those people face and then maybe they can work with us at Goodwill Easter Seals and try to help solve some of those problems," added Detrick.

This is the first time that the training has been put on in Lima, and it has been held in the area twice before.
