It may be Veterans day, but Christmas is on the minds of the retailers in Southwestern Auglaize County.  And the German Family Christmas gives local small business  a chance to show what they have to offer.

“Its before all the box stores do their special and things, so we can show them our quality goods and offer to them our best prices.” says Cathy Hall Owner, Topsy Turvy Toys.

Logan O’Neill, Ex Dir. Southwestern Auglaize County Chamber of Commerce adds, “There are options available locally to find just about everything you need.  You may have to pay a couple of dollars more.  But for the most part you will find everything that you need here in southwestern Auglaize County.”

And when community members, be vocal and shop local, they know it’s they are supporting their neighbors, their friends and people they see on a daily basis.

“We love to see them come in and the camaraderie we get here is amazing.  We hear so many stories, on how the lord changes lives and how we are all connected in so many ways, it’s an amazing gift.” says Dana Blanchard, Employee at Cornerstone.

“Many businesses were started by community support, because they needed those businesses and knew the value of bringing those businesses to town.  And so people put up dollars to bring businesses to town" says O'Neill. "That is why our communities do so well because the people in our communities are so invested into the success of each community."

And with the rise of Online shopping, Hall is thankful for the community support and the connection that she is able to make with everybody that comes into into her store.

“It gives you hope, it gives you hope for small business in America.  As we see a lot of online shopping, a lot of black Friday shopping, it gives you hope that what you are doing will last.”
