In Elida, an announcement at American Township Hall regarding government transparency. 

Officials from American Township joined officials with the Ohio Treasurer's Office for a powerpoint presentation and group discussion, announcing the launch of the American Township Checkbook on Ohiocheckbook.com. It's a new national standard for government transparency, putting all state spending information on the internet, meaning, taxpayers can now see specifically where their tax dollars are going. Officials said this empowers taxpayers across the state to hold public officials accountable. 

"We hope that they're using their checkbook websites to engage citizens and build trust," said Treasurer of Ohio's Deputy Director of Public Affairs, Frank Kohstall. "The websites are easy to use, they're searchable and that's one of the main aspects we wanted to show tonight, was just how easy it is to use and hopefully the citizens will use it to hold their elected officials accountable."

Over 12,00 local government and school districts have partnered with Ohiocheckbook.com, including four in Allen County.
