A change up on the Republican side of the race for the next Ohio Governor.

Two Republican candidates for the Ohio Governor's race are changing things up and running together. Attorney General Mike DeWine and Ohio election's chief Jon Husted say they can do more and better while working together. Political Science Professor Dr. Robert Alexander at Ohio Northern University says that he's surprised to see the Ohio political heavyweights teaming up, but he thinks the name recognition they each bring to the ballot can help in the long-run. He says their biggest challenge will be staying with traditional Republican ideals or not.

"I just want to highlight that this will be a very closely watched race throughout the country," Alexander says. "Huge duo, this is big news on the Republican side on account of the competition between Trump and Husted and DeWine, they're cut in kind of a more establishment cloth and I think that's going to be really important to watch."

News of DeWine and Husted teaming up led to some speculation that Lieutenant Governor Mary Taylor would drop out of the race, but Taylor said in a Thursday Press Release that she is in the race to win it, and has no plans of stopping.
