The Allen County Bike and Pedestrian Task Force thanked their volunteers Thursday evening with their annual recognition and awards program.

The Bike and Pedestrian Task Force was formed in 2013 and works to keep youth and others active and make the community more bike and walker friendly.  The event Thursday evening was set up to award those volunteers who have contributed to helping the task force over the year, and to let those volunteers stay involved with what the task force is planning.

"I think it’s always important to spread that message of what we’re trying to do, what we are doing, and what we have done, because as we try to build that coalition bringing more folks in to the work that we’re trying to do, try to spread and improve active transportation for everyone in the county, we need more folks, we need more volunteers," said Josh Unterbrink, co-director of Activate Allen County.

The group also discussed upcoming ideas and plans for the future.
