A small piece of equipment could mean the difference between life and death when time is short.

The Allen County Sheriff's Office accepting the donation of four automated external defibrillators to be used by deputies out in the field. The life saving machines were donated by Lima Memorial Health System and Mercy Health St. Rita's Medical Center. Allen County Sheriff Matt Treglia says they currently have three external defibrillators which have been used multiple times by the deputies. The addition of Thursday's donations will allow seven cruisers to be equipped to respond to an emergency where someone is in cardiac arrest.

Sheriff Treglia says the defibrillators will be assigned daily to cruisers to ensure there is one available in each section of the county.
