The City of Findlay welcomed in the newest addition to their industrial park, McLane Grocery Distribution, with a special ribbon cutting ceremony at McLane's recently opened distribution center.

Elected officials from Hancock County up to Ohio Governor John Kasich were in attendance for the ribbon cutting, officially opening a facility that will bring in hundreds of jobs for workers in the state.

"The center is it expected to employee up to 500 people in Ohio, we’re very proud of that," said Tony Frankenberger, President of McLane Grocery Distribution.  "We have a total of 80 distribution centers within the McLane company portfolio, and this facility represents the most technologically advanced facility we’ve ever built."

Those with McLane say that one of the biggest factors for the new facility was making sure that their employees are happy with their work environment, and providing job opportunities for those that often are overlooked in the working world.

"It’s exciting when I know that we can give them what I consider a better life, whether that’s financially, or just a really good, safe work environment that people are happy to come into every day," said Julie Norris, Grocery Supply Chain Solutions Div. President for McLane.  "We also do work and hire people with cognitive disabilities and physical disabilities, it’s been really good for us to do work with the Blanchard Valley Center here in Hancock County, and they really introduced us to the organizations that can help us with that."

Gov. John Kasich touched on some of McLane's hiring policies during his speech, and noted that giving everyone a chance to work is an important thing.

"I was very excited to see here at this company that they reached out to people who don’t function exactly like we do, in fact they function in ways that are better than the way we function, and include them in the family of people who work here, and that’s a big deal, that’s a huge, huge deal," said Gov. Kasich.

McLane is the first facility in Findlay's newest industrial park.
