How often do you meet someone who is 100 years old or older? Some lucky students at Perry Elementary School had that opportunity.

101-year-old Thelma Wilson spoke to a group of sixth grade girls part of a sorority called "The Fleet." Wilson told stories of her life to the young ladies and  gave them advice about growing up. The students had the opportunity to ask Wilson some questions like what her favorite school subject was and how she got to school in the early 1900s.

"I think it's really important," said Perry Elementary mentor, Mary Monford. "How many young people today know someone that's 100? I think it's very important to note and compare the difference in the life of young ladies. Back in those days a young girl, she (grew up) and she got married and that was it. Now-a-days young girls can do anything that they desire and I think that's wonderful."

This was the second time Wilson spoke to a group at Perry Elementary and Monford said both groups of students really enjoyed her.
