2017 was a busy year for the commissioners in Putnam County.

Commissioners say some of the biggest projects they were able to finish in the past year include an upgrade to their IT infrastructure to help keep records and information more secure, and moving the recycling drop-off to a new location at the fairgrounds.

Commissioners are already looking towards the new year with ideas to help improve the Putnam County courthouse.

"We’ve got plans and we put the money away already for some upscale things for this courthouse; our skylights need some attention, we have some masonry issues, and definitely the big thing is the roof, that’s another thing, we're going to try to get us down to one entrance here at the courthouse as recommended for security reasons," said John Love, a commissioner for Putnam County.

There are also plans to finish the parking lot where the jail used to be located.  The commissioners say that the two major projects in 2018 will cost around 1.2 million dollars.
