Lima Ohio -

As of Tuesday night, three new council members are officially serving the City of Lima.

3rd Ward's Carla Thompson, 5th Ward's Jamie Dixon and 7th Ward's Jon Neeper were sworn in as new councilors. Todd Gordon, who also won in the November election, will retain his 1st Ward council seat. The city entered into contracts with four companies to complete the $2 million Schoonover Dam and Park project. The project will restore the aging dam at the park, along with reconstruction of the fountain and island. The new Council members shared what item on their agenda they want to tackle first.

"Really getting a Neighborhood Association or more than one started back for my ward. I know I'm going to be leading one, we will be meeting in January, but I'm hoping to also help somebody else form one for the other half of the ward," said new 3rd Ward council member Carla Thompson.

"Making sure that we get our Community Association started again within the 5th Ward," said new 5th Ward council member Jamie Dixon. "On January 18th at 7 p.m. at the New Life Assembly Church at 1003 East Kibby Street we will be having a public forum."

"I want to work with the city police in working on the crime issues as well as the drug abuse issues in the City of Lima. That's the platform I ran on," said new 7th Ward Council member Jon Neeper.

Also at City Council, members voted on an Environmental Agreement with the Ohio EPA about the Wetlands next to Williams Reservoir. Officer Randy Kohli is retiring from the LPD after almost 35 years. He was recognized Tuesday night and will be formally honored for his service this Saturday at the F.O.P. Lodge at 6 p.m.
