A bill aimed at holding websites accountable when it comes to online sex trafficking has made it through the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation.

Senator Rob Portman of Ohio proposed the "Stop Enabling Sex Traffickers Act" with an overwhelming amount of bipartisan support. If the bill becomes law, websites that knowingly facilitate the sale of sex trafficking victims can be held liable for those crimes. Senator Portman says the proposed law would allow victims to get the justice they deserve.

"Having an increase sex trafficking at this time in our nation's history, to me, is a stain on our national history," says Portman. "I mean, I think that's something everybody, Republican, Democrat, alike should be against. Let's actually help to cut back on something that I think every American believes is wrong."

60 Senators voiced their support for the bill, making its passage a certainty.
