Delphos City Council members agreed Monday night to ask the state for money for future water facilities.

Council passed a resolution to apply for a Water Pollution Control Loan Fund Agreement for planning, design and construction of water facilities. To do this, they're enacting an Asset Management Plan for the water treatment facility with the Ohio EPA and the Ohio Water Development Authority. The dedicated source of repayment will be a water improvement fund. An Asset Management program includes an emergency preparedness guide, a capital improvements plan and a long-term funding strategy.

"This is a potentially zero percent interest loan with a potential of up to $10,000 in principal forgiveness," said Safety Services Director Shane Coleman. "It's a study that we're mandated to do by October 1st  of this year. We just want to go after some additional funding to help in that cause."

Also at the meeting, medical marijuana was discussed, members talking about whether or not they will allow it in the city, and if they do, what type of zoning might be required for dispensaries. Two new council members were welcomed as well Monday night, Scott Wiltsie and Jeff Klausing.
