Allen County Sheriff has filed paperwork to run for the position this fall.

Sheriff Matt Treglia filed papers Wednesday afternoon signifying the start of his first campaign for the office. Treglia was named interim Allen County Sheriff in early February last year and the interim title was dropped two weeks later. Treglia said his next step is to line up his treasurer and begin a campaign plan. He said he's always wanted to be the Allen County Sheriff since he became a deputy in 1997 and believes his first year in the position brought progress.

"First year went really well," Treglia said. "I've got a great administration behind me. The citizens of Allen County seem to have come behind me also. We're moving forward. We're making a difference. Cleaning up the office. We're making some big changes and all this is for the greater good of the community, Allen County and its citizens."

Candidates have until February 7th, if party affiliated, to file paperwork to run for sheriff. As of Wednesday, no one else has filed paperwork to run.
