The Cleveland Browns didn’t get a win this season, but the Lima Area Browns Backers are helping three local organizations be winners this Super Bowl Sunday.

Throughout this past football season, Browns Backers have been collecting money to help support local charities, and Sunday (2/04/18) they handed out $1,000 checks to the Veterans Food Pantry of Northwest Ohio, The Equestrian Therapy Program, and Deb’s Dogs.

“For going 0 and 16 and raising this much money, imagine if we go 16 and 0, I mean  $10,000 checks for everybody," says jokingly Jason Davis President of the Lima Area Browns Backers.

And the organizations were happy that the Browns Backers, collected this money to help back their missions of helping other people and animals.

“We average 400 veterans a month, and that feeds them and all their families for a month.  So this is greatly appreciated, and these kind of donations are what makes us continue to do what we do" says Denny Glenn from the Veterans Food Pantry of Northwest Ohio

Michele Andrews-Sabol, the Executive Director of the Equestrian Therapy Program, adds, “This $1,000 will assist a lot of our riders to ride.  We have a ridership program.  We only survive by donations and this community has been so wonderful to us and our volunteers, so we can thank these people enough.”

“We need this to take care of our fur babies, and we have a lot of them right now.  It all goes to vet bills and supplies for our pets" states Deb Helser of Deb's Dogs.

Besides these checks, the Browns Backers had a hog roast the fall, which raised 17 hundred dollars for the local toy ride.
