The Allen County Bike and Pedestrian Task Force met for the first time of 2018, today(2/7/18).

The Allen County Bike and Pedestrian Task Force aims to increase walking and biking opportunities throughout the county. Discussed in the meeting was the MoveSafe campaign designed to make drivers aware of the three feet for bikers law. The task force brought in two local businesses to demonstrate their latest products in bike safety. The products ranged from helmets, apparel, lights, and mirrors. Crankers Cycling Owner Kent Fultz tells riders it's important to restock on equipment as the reflectiveness dulls or products wear out.

"A lot of what's happening in technology and safety is surrounding lighting," Fultz said. "Lighting is becoming so much more bright. No batteries to it, so its all USB rechargeable, just like our cell phones. Battery life lasts a lot longer as well. Brightness of clothing of reflectability of that clothing is really a big deal now."

Fultz said his business hosts the Crankers Critical Mass bike ride three times a year to bring awareness for cycling solidarity and safety.
