A long time Allen County elected official has decided not to seek re-election.

It has been 10 years that Rhonda Eddy-Stienecker has been the chief financial officer for Allen County. She was first appointed auditor in 2008 to fill the unexpired term of Ben Diepenbrock. Her current term runs through the second Monday in March. Stienecker says she has been honored to be the county auditor and is proud of what her office has accomplished over the last decade. She says one major accomplishment is the refinancing of the county debt and the general obligation debt which saved the county $800,000.

Before becoming the county auditor, Stienecker was the county treasurer.  Current Allen County treasurer, Rachael Gilroy has filed petitions to run for county auditor. Both say the two departments work hand in hand and the move from treasurer to auditor is a natural one. Gilroy says she works with the auditor's office on a daily basis whether it’s investment, collection, or real estate related.

Gilroy is the only party candidate that has filed with the board of elections to run for auditor.
