Ohio Northern University's annual Kormendy Lecture brought in a professor all the way from Chicago.

The Pettit College of Law brought in Tom Ginsburg, the Leo Spitz professor of international law from the University of Chicago. He is also in the midst of a project that catalogues the world's constitutions since 1789. Ginsburg delivered his speech on constitutional democracy this afternoon to a crowded moot courtroom. His main talking points were about the risks of constitutional democracy specifically the erosion and collapse of democracy.

"We in the United States like to think of our constitution as being exceptional, in many ways it is," said Ginsburg. "Our country is exceptional. The one thing I hope students come away from the talk with is, the idea that when it comes to the protection of democracy, we're not exceptional. We're subject to some of those threats and pressures that we see in other countries around the world and we have to take them seriously."

Ginsburg's favorite part about these talks is the opportunity to speak to students, the future of constitutional democracy.
