The May Primary Election continues to get closer, and local Democrats got to hear from two of the candidates that have thrown their hat in the ring for governor.

Richard Cordray and State Senator Joe Schiavoni joining Democrats from Northwest Ohio to get fired up for the 2018 election year. Cordray says Ohioans are looking for a governor that is concerned about what is affecting them in their home, schools, and towns, not corporations and businesses.

“We need to stop giving all this money back in tax cuts to the people who need it least in this state. We need to balance economic opportunities spread it out through out the state; we need to be looking out for our small and medium-sized towns, who are often left behind the economic development that goes on at the state level but never touches our communities," said Richard Cordray, Ohio Democratic Governor Candidate.

Schiavoni says it’s all about creating opportunities. He is going to come to communities and invest in them. Plus, work on issues that are important to the citizens.

“Those issues are again, jobs, education for kids, dealing with the drug problem and making sure that we re-invest in communities like this. It’s not just about the three C’s every day; it’s about the rest of the cities as well. There are a lot of great people in this state, but they feel neglected, and they feel angry that the government hasn’t worked for them," said Joe Schiavoni, Ohio Democratic Governor Candidate.

As of today, Schiavoni and Cordray will be facing other Democratic candidates in the May Primary, including former Ohio Supreme Court Justice William O’Neill and former Ohio Congressman Dennis Kucinich.
