Berger has just returned from Washington, where he and other mayors, met with lawmakers to talk about what would be the best use of 10 billion dollars that will be available each year over the next couple of years, through existing programs to make infrastructure improvements across the nation. Berger says that he hopes that some of that money could come back to Lima to work on their multi-million dollar agreement with the United States Environmental Protection Agency, to reduce the number of overflows the city faces during heavy rains.

"I am very hopeful that ultimately, some of that funding would become available to us for unfunded mandates that the city has benefited from prior years allocations to the state revolving loan fund, in that we are getting zero percent 13 million dollar loan, to fund a portion of the next phase of our consent decree from the U.S. EPA," said Mayor Berger.

The city will be starting construction on a 13 million gallon tank to help with overflow problem. The infrastructure funding passed is outside of the 1.5 trillion dollar plan that President Trump has proposed.
