U.S. employers filled more jobs in the month of February.

According to the United States Department of Labor, employers added 313,000 jobs, the most in any month since July 2016. The increase of new workers kept the unemployment rate unchanged at 4.1%. Officials say the surge of job gains may reflect confidence among some businesses that President Trump's tax cuts will accelerate growth.

Economists are still calculating how the Trump administration's decision to increase tariffs on steel and aluminum will affect the job market.  The Trade Partnership, a consulting firm, estimates the tariffs will eliminate roughly 145,000 jobs.
