The rules may have changed but the mission remains the same - finish the race.

Members of the Lima Senior High School Rover Challenge team are in countdown mode as they make final adjustments and tweaks on their 2018 competition rover. This will be the 14th year the school has been representing the City of Lima and the State of Ohio in the high school competition portion of the “NASA Human Exploration Rover Challenge", formerly the "Great Moonbuggy Race". Instead of an all out race over difficult terrain the students will have mission objective tasks to complete within a time limit. They will be challenged to complete 14 obstacles and five tasks throughout the half-mile course, with a six-minute supply of "virtual" oxygen.

Lima Senior Junior Peter Fike says they have used last years design with modifications to the torque, the assembly and the weight of the rover. The students leave Thursday for Huntsville Alabama with a test run on Friday and the competition run on Saturday. Good luck to them.
