As the old saying goes, you never know a person, until you walk a mile in their shoes.

Well, that’s what the male students at Rhodes State College did today, as they put on high heels and walk a mile around campus. The purpose of the event is to end violence against women, to stop rape, to stop sexual assault and to promote a healthy campus culture.  So help raise that awareness, the men at to stop at various stations to learn something from the local agencies that deal with gender-based violence.

Nicole Buccall, Rhodes State College Coordinator of Student Engagement and Activities says, “We are very committed to changing the culture.  We know the impact of violence in our community is staggering and that is all over.  So we are making sure we are doing our part, we are doing our duty, to raise awareness about it, provide local resources and to educate on how to prevent and report.”

This was the first year for the event and is something that the college is looking at making an annual walk.
