Scoring big on "Victory Day"

The Football team scored a touchdown with their 2nd Victory Day. The Football team scored a touchdown with their 2nd Victory Day.

Ohio Northern University football players band and cheerleaders gives some local kids the chance to feel what it is like to play on a Saturday Afternoon.

The Football team scored a touchdown with their 2nd Victory Day.  The days are designed to give kids who have some sort of cognitive or physical disability the chance to play football with the Polar Bears.  Around 20 kids braved the rain to take part  The idea for Victory Day was started at high school up in Michigan and other high schools and university have adopted the special day to give kids a football experience.  And it is just another way that the Ohio Northern players can give back to others. 

“For our players to help somebody else share just a little bit of the enthusiasm and joy of the game, scoring a touchdown with the band playing, cheerleaders cheering and some of the other teammates around them celebrating,"  says Coach Dean Paul, Ohio Northern Football. "The smiles on their faces were pretty awesome.”

Coach Paul says his players get something out of the day as well, as they help others have a fun experience out on the football field.
