The Salvation Army of Van Wert is helping hungry kids in the community with this year's LemonAiD fundraiser.

The fundraiser started on May 10th and runs until July 21st. It involves kids setting up lemonade stands throughout the community, and the money made at the stands goes right back to the Salvation Army to serve meals to children in need. Those with the Salvation Army say that having the community pitch in is a big help to continue to serve those in need.

"There is a big need with food and hunger in our community, and without fundraisers, without other people’s help through this fundraiser, we might not be able to help people that we could otherwise," said Lt. John Brookman with the Salvation Army of Van Wert.

To participate in the fundraiser, visit the Salvation Army offices at 120 North Cherry Street in Van Wert and ask for Lt. Josh Brookman for the registration sheet. The office is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
