After a little more than a year, the new spillway at Indian Lake is almost complete.

All that is left to do in the $7.6 million dollar project is some cosmetic work like planting grass and putting up signs and handrails. According to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, the spillway is the 2nd largest Labyrinth Weir spillway in the country, and it will keep the lake safe for the community for decades to come.

"The old spillway was safe but very old and it was in need of replacement," says George Sholtis, Manager of Indian Lake State Park. "The new spillway will ensure a safe lake area for decades, and so we're happy to see that get done."

Crews are expected to finish the project and move out in about three or four weeks.
