With the expansion, the village plans on resurfacing the road between US 224 and OH-65 to accommodate increased semi traffic. The project will cost a little over $1 million dollars, much of which will be covered by an $856,000 grant from the state. Putnam County will also front $350,000 and Leipsic will contribute $105,000 to the project. It is a good chunk of change, but village administrator Justin Barnhart says that keeping the roads in good shape is not just good for PRO-TECT, it is good for business in Putnam County.

"They look at your roadways and they say 'well, what's it going to cost me in terms of time to get a truck to and from,' and I think that when they ended up building Road 5 initially they were able to knock five to seven minutes off the trip for a semi to travel between Leipsic and the nearest highway," says Barnhart. "Now that just sounds like convenience to you and I, but to an industry that's dollars and cents."

The road work is currently expected to being in 2020 after the PRO-TEC expansion beings in 2019.
