Parades, princesses, and pork rinds are just a few of the things that people could expect at the Pork Rind Heritage Festival.

The smell of frying pork rinds wasn’t the only things covering the streets of Harrod this afternoon, but a sense of community as the parade marched through the village as part of the annual festival.  The festival is a family-friendly event that residents around Harrod look forward to each year, and the proceeds from the festival go back and help the community in various ways.

Tony Blake of the Harrod Pork Rind Heritage Festival says, “We always have a bible school each year, we give back to the bible school.  We have a boxing program, up in Lima, we give funding to.  There are all kinds of smaller organizations, we even give out 3 scholarships.  So its a very important thing for the community.”
