After 20 years the Orthopedic Institute of Ohio and the Institute for Orthopedic Surgery continue to put their patients first when it comes to personal care.

To mark the milestone, the institute held an open hour for the public to come in and get a unique perspective of their operations.  Which also included the doctors doing simulations in their operating rooms, for knee replacement and fragment removal.  There was also seminars about the types of services they offer and a chance for people to take a tour of the facility.  The staff wanted to show what started with 8 physicians in 1998, has grown to become one of the premiere orthopedic institutes in the country.

Dr. Mark McDonald says, *Now we have 14 doctors, over 30 health caregivers, we have developed an expansive operating room that does 6 thousand surgeries a year, we have twelve overnight hospital beds, we have been rated in the 99th percentile in the nation for all hospitals for patent satisfaction.:

While today was a day to celebrate their accomplishments at the institute, they also celebrated the career of Doctor Gary Schniegenberg.  34 years of practicing medicine he has decided to hang up his scalpel.

Dr. Gary Schniegenberg says, “I am going to miss the surgical part and I will miss the friendships that have been built up and the patents.  I am still going to keep my hands in it, I am going to do some work doing chart reviews and things like that.  The patent care is going to be the toughest part.”

Schniegenberg will be making his retirement official at the end of the month.
