Around 80% of children’s car seats are installed incorrectly. That is why the Lima AAA office held a free car seat check to help parents make sure that their child is as safe as they can be.  Car crashes are still the leading cause of death for children 1 to 13 years old, but a child safety seat can reduce that chance.

AAA’s certified child passenger safety technicians were on hand Saturday (6/16/18) to make the adjustments needed to make sure the car seat has been installed properly.

Cindy Nelson, Manager of AAA Lima says, “One of the most common mistakes we see, the car seats are not in tight enough and we see a lot of projectiles, toys around the vehicles, and unfortunately in an accident, those could become a very serious hazard.”

AAA was also reminding parents to double check their back seat for their child, to prevent heat stroke if a child is left in a car during the hot summer months and also not to forget to lock their cars in their garages to prevent kids from playing in them when the adults are not around.
