The Ohio State Highway Patrol is taking time this month to focus on safe driving around semi trucks.

From July 2-6, 2018, the patrol will be paying extra attention to how passenger vehicles are driving with commercial vehicles on the road. Semi trucks have limitations like blind spots and are harder to maneuver. They are also heavier than other vehicles so when they collide with a passenger vehicle the results.

"When a passenger car hits a semi or vice versa, the damage is infinitely larger so motorists need to take a lot of care whether they're driving a semi, a passenger car, a motorcycle, or if you're driving around one of those types of vehicles," says Lt. Tim Grigsby, the Lima Post Commander for the Ohio State Highway Patrol. "Patience is the key."

Grigsby says that if you see a semi or passenger vehicle driving recklessly to call #677 to connect to your local highway patrol so that they can dispatch a trooper to check the situation out.
