For some people, camping around the 4th of July is just as much of a tradition as fireworks and barbeques, and plenty of people did just that over the holiday week, setting up camp at the Grand Lake St. Marys State Park.

It was a busy week for the campground; according to the camp office, the park was full for the holiday, with about 200 spots taken. With plenty to do from going out on the lake, to swimming in the park's new pool, to just sitting around the fire, there is something to keep everyone happy.

A big part of camping for some is the chance to spend time with family. Tanya Hinegardner and her family have been at the park since the 3rd, having the chance to catch up and enjoy being together.

"It's just my husband and my son, and then my oldest is coming down this weekend with us," said Hinegardner. "My oldest is going to grad school so it's nice to be able to spend some time in the summertime camping and we really get some quality family time."

On the other side of the park, Hannah Smith and her family have been camping throughout the week. Hannah says she's been camping for a long time, so bringing her kids out to camp is a fun experience.

"Camping with your little kids, there's nothing like it; I camped a lot as a little kid, and being a parent now and getting to experience the same thing with them, it's just amazing," said Smith. "I hope someday I can be like my dad and camp with my kids when they get older and experience that with them and with my grandkids someday camping as well."

The camp office says that they expect another full campground for the weekend. In fact, the grounds have been full every weekend since they opened around Memorial Day.
