A Lima City Councilman and other community members are putting up a reward for information that leads to the arrest of the suspect in the Thursday Morning shooting at the UAW hall.

According to the Lima Police Department, 24-year-old Carrington Lott and three men and three women were shot during a July 4th party.  Lott died from his injuries, the other 6 were treated at local hospitals.  The UAW hall was rented out for the party, and police estimate there was close to a couple of hundred people there.  6th ward councilman Derry Glenn says, a few years ago, Lott was one of the young men in the youth programs he sponsors and he and other members of the community want to see justice for Lott and the other victims of the shooting.

Derry Glenn, 6th Ward Councilman, City of Lima says, “A group of us came together, and we are going to put out a thousand dollar reward, for the arrest of this person that shot the kids and murdered Mr. Lott.  We are hoping and praying we can come up with a solution, by helping these kids out and finding answers to why this happened?”

This is the third year in a row that a fatal shooting happened following the 4th of July holiday and Glenn says that more needs to happen to help end the gun violence in the city.

“We need to put a stop to it.  Could we put a stop to it by bringing new laws, no.  We need to put a stop to it, by talking to our youth.  Let them know what is going on, what do you need, what is the problem, you know, what can we do to help you.”

The police told Your News Now, that they will be releasing more information into their investigation into the shooting in the next few days.
