The Allen County Sheriff's Department is getting ready to host their first ever National Night Out.
The community will be welcomed out to the Allen County Fairground on August 7th. The various sheriff's department teams will be on hand to do demonstrations, plus free food, games, and a bounce house. National Night Out is a nationwide event that brings the communities together with law enforcement to help stand up to crime. The Allen County Sheriff's Office hopes the people in Allen County get a better idea on what sheriff's department does in the community.
"I think a lot of times citizens don't realize what our capabilities are here locally. they see the cruisers, they see detectives from times to time but they don't realize how many other things we're involved with. Citizens need to understand what they're paying for, how that money is being utilized. Really, I want citizens to feel safe knowing that we have teams that are capable of handling about any situation that could come up," said Lt. Andre McConnahea, Allen County Sheriff's Office.
At 7:00 p.m., a fundraiser 5K for the Allen County D.A.R.E. program will be run during the National Night Out event.
