Seniors citizens in the community took part in a wellness program to learn more about their own health.

The class pushes seniors to engage in conversation about their own health, instead of placing every senior under the same category.

Prevention specialist, Jessica Gogley, says that program evaluations have shown great results and that many have been surprised by how much they've learned throughout the class.

"It's important because a lot of times there's a lot of negativity behind aging and we tend to focus on the positive side of it and things that people may not realize that are grouped in the overall senior age that are happening," says Gogley.

Auglaize, Hardin, and Allen County each have their own program that is free and open to the public. The Allen County class is held every Wednesday until the 25th.

To secure a spot, reservations can be made by contacting the Allen County Council on Aging at (419) 228-5135.
