The City of Findlay takes the next step to further their flood mitigation project.

The Findlay City Council will be voting on a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) tonight which is a big step towards the start of construction to flood reduction projects. Findlay's Safety Director says that the passage of the memorandum itself is not what is going to have a large impact, but the construction project that will begin in the Blanchard River will help reduce the impact of major flooding events around the city.

"Approximately eight tenths of a foot of base flood elevation is a massive amount of water and its very impactful when you look at a one hundred year storm. So it's absolutely positively something we must get accomplished," says Schmelzer.

If the memorandum passes tonight, the city will have the ability to further its flood reduction plan.
