Organizers say that is key because the best time to get know the people that protect you is in a setting like Night Out, not during an emergency situation. The Lima Neighborhood Associations putting on more than a party, they brought together neighbors, friends, and Lima first responders to take part in their annual Night Out.

Lima’s town square was full of people and fun, as the kids challenged themselves on some inflatables, there was free food to be had, and a lot of socializing with members of the Lima police and fire departments. And Organizers say that is key because the best time to get know the people that protect you is in a setting like Night Out, not during an emergency situation. 

“Especially with recent events and things going on. You really want the chance to get to meet your first responders and get on a good first name basis with them," said Kay Van Meter, Lima National Night Out Chairman.

The Lima Night Out is just one of 16,000 communities across the country that hosts an event. This year, the organization that oversees the event says there were 38 million people taking part in Night Out events around the United States and Canada.
