Members of local law enforcement and some local youth took to the basketball court today for some friendly competition.

The basketball game was organized by a few Lima city council members and invited the Lima Police Department to play a few pick up games with the kids at the Bradfield Community Center. Not just LPD participated, but school resource officers, rangers and even a member of the fire department. Patrolman Justin Wireman said this was a way to build relationships with the youth in the community.

"Sometimes they see us only in uniform, driving our cars around," said Wireman. "This is another way to interact with them, throughout sports. Basketball is huge in this community so it's a great way to interact, something they love to do and see us in a little different light."

Wireman said officers planned to play for a couple hours or until they fell over.
