United Way of Greater Lima kicks off fundraising campaign

As part of the kickoff breakfast, Lima Mayor David Berger also had proclamations for three companies that support United Way and are celebrating milestone anniversaries this year. The United Way of Greater Lima is aiming high to help more people in the area. 

Friday morning they kicked off their 2018 fundraising campaign. This year they have set a goal of raising one million $650,000, which is higher than the goal they set last year. The United Way provides financial support to 19 different organization and 25 programs that focus on education, financial stability, and health. This year is the agency's 100th anniversary and they're hoping that people will help them out so they can continue their mission of service. 

“When you think about United Way, we not only help people with their immediate needs but we also look for long-term solutions for community issues. And we bring people together, to work together on issues that face our community. That is really what it means to live united,” said Carol Branden-Clarke, President, United Way of Greater Lima.

As part of the kickoff breakfast, Lima Mayor David Berger also had proclamations for three companies that support United Way and are celebrating milestone anniversaries this year. Procter & Gamble has 50 years in the community, Tuttle Construction 90 years, and Mercy Health-St. Rita's who is celebrating a century of serving the area. Following the breakfast, over 300 volunteers heading out to the Day of Caring project.
