Today marks 50 years of for the Northside Child Care Center at the Lima Mennonite Church.

In 1968, the vision of completing the one-story building seemed unlikely. However, the job was done and now, over 5,000 children have been impacted by the care center.

After the church service today, members of the church celebrated the golden anniversary. A tree was planted in honor of the center's founder and earliest director, Elouise King.

The Northside Child Care Center Director, Dianne Boratko, says that it is important to those who previously helped create resources we still use today.

"That's our foundation, that's what you're built on. if you have a bad foundation, it can't be built but obviously, this was built on a strong foundation and mostly it was built on Jesus," says Boratko.
