The Allen County Master Gardeners gave kids in the community the opportunity to release living Monarch butterflies into the Children's garden before they fly south.

Children 3 and over had 10 education stations to choose from throughout the event, in an effort to teach them more about caterpillars and butterflies. The stations varied from readings to arts and crafts.

Gretchen Staley, the Director of the Master Gardeners, says that her favorite part of these events is seeing the long-lasting impact they have.

"We have lots of adults and second generations bringing their kids who still share with us stories about experiences they had here in the garden and how much they love it," says Staley.

Staley says that the next event is at the Johnny Appleseed festival, and is also aimed towards kids.
