Nine girls took to the stage of Jefferson Middle School to have their shot at becoming the 25th Canal Days Queen in Delphos.

In the end, Delphos St. John's senior Skye Stevenson took the crown for 2018, however, while it is a competition 2017 Canal Days Queen Shayna Sanchez says that there is nothing but love among those competing.

"It's about the experience, that's definitely what I'm in it for and I feel like every contestant this year is in it for the experience as well," says Sanchez. "You just want everybody to do the best. You're watching the other girls do their walks and their introductions and you're just hoping that they do their best and you do your best."

Also competing this year was Kylie O'Conner, Lakin Stevenson, and Michaela Shawhan of Delphos St. John's School as well as Alexa Chung, Lauren Grothause, Rachel Kroeger, Kara Gossman, and Audryanna Stewart of Delphos Jefferson High School.

The majority of the festivities for Canal Days will kick off on Friday (8/14/18) with the First Financial Bank Art Exhibit opening at 8 am and the food vendors following at 11 am.
