Moving at the speed of sound, for the criminal justice system, the Lima man accused of robbing a bank has entered a plea and has been sentenced, in under a month.

63-year-old John Jackson was sentenced to eight years in prison on Monday. Jackson signed a bill of information, therefore waiving the right to have the grand jury look over the case. He immediately pleaded guilty to a count of robbery and had agreed to the prosecution-recommended eight-year sentence. Jackson, who robbed the Superior Credit Union on Kibby St. on August 14th, made off with almost $9,000. $7,000 was recovered and he's ordered to repay the remaining $1,732 dollars.

"I spent the last 25 of the last 30 years in prison as a result of my addiction," Jackson said during sentencing. "I wanted just to express my apology and my sorrow for any harm that I've done to the (Superior) Credit Union person that was there, as a result of my actions, my behavior."

Jackson was credited with serving 28 days since his arrest.
