Work on the old mill in St. Marys is still going on, and city officials are hoping to use federal money to continue on with the project.

St. Marys mayor Pat McGowan says that they are in the final stages of approvals from the state to use money from the city's Community Development Block Grant towards the renovation. The project is expected to cost around $891,000. Planning on the mill has been going on for several years, and going through the process to use the grant money is just another step towards starting physical work.

"Now it goes to the state itself - the state has to declare this as a blight, and once they clear that then we can use can use the million dollars in our grant fund and we can use that fund for the restoration of the mill," said McGowan.

The project will be done in three different phases, with the end goal of turning the mill into a community space for events.
