Monday evening in St. Marys, there was a developmental screening for children five and under.

Held at East Primary School, located at 650 Armstrong Street in St. Marys, Ohio, the free screening allowed parents to talk to early childhood professionals regarding their child's development. This included growth, vision, speech, hearing, language, behavior and motor skills. Director of Early Intervention, Joy Miller says, "We've known for years I guess that children learn and their brain grows the fastest in really the first three years if not the first five years of their life. And the biggest impact we can have on children is to really get them where they need to be before they hit kindergarten so that's why it's critical for the county and for everyone, the schools and that we all get involved in helping our youngest citizens here in the county."

This screening is the first of three. The next one will be held in March.
