We have an update on the incident involving a 10-year-old Perry Township girl at the Allen County Fair on Sunday, August 19, 2018.

Your News Now has reached out to the Ohio Department of Agriculture's Division of Amusement Ride Safety and Fairs asking about the investigation into the incident.

10-year-old Kylie Richards was reportedly taken by family members from the fairgrounds to Mercy Health St. Rita's then transferred to Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus for treatment. A family member on a GoFundMe account indicated Kylie suffered a spinal stroke and she may never walk again.

Department of Agriculture Communications Director Mark Bruce tells Your News Now that the department did not initially receive a report of any type of injury or incident associated with a ride at the Allen County Fair.

After seeing social media postings about a possible incident, he says acting out of an abundance of caution they performed an inspection on the ride, The Orbiter, and the ride performed according to manufacturer's specifications and was operating with a height requirement of 52 inches, which is above the manufacturer's recommendation of 48 inches.

As to Richards' condition, they can't speak to that since they are not medical professionals, but the Ohio Department of Agriculture did speak with Richards' parents as part of their investigation and when the review is wrapped up they will release their findings.
