The Lima Family YMCA is finding a new way to get kids active.

They are offering a seven-week class that is designed to give children 30 to 45 minutes of physical activity. The class starts with a five-minute warm-up, followed by a 30-minute game, and then a five minute cool down. Each child will be tested twice on different physical exercises. They will be tested at the beginning of the course and at the end, and then they compare the results.  The goal of this course is to teach the foundations of physical activity and prepare the body for high-intensity activity.

Babysitting Supervisor, Skylynn Prine says, "This is really important for kids because a lot of them, especially now, just see video games and stuff and they just want to sit around TVs and they don't want to get interactive so this way they can get interactive and be more fit and want to continue that starting at a young age and continue it throughout adulthood also."

The class is free to Y members and $30 to non-members.
