The Better Business Bureau is warning people once again of scams surrounding a natural disaster.

With Hurricane Florence approaching the east coast, scammers could be preparing to act on your generosity. Cheryl Parson of BBB said scams will show up for relief efforts after the storm. She said a few popped up in the area during last year's hurricane season. Parson said don't believe anyone asking for a wire transfer, cash or gift cards. Some of the scams might have titles that look similar to real organizations. She advises to do an internet search and find out for yourself.

"If you see one on email, Facebook is the big one," Parson said, the president of the West Central Ohio BBB. "They'll put something out there or a GoFundMe account, you really need to check all those out. Any email, Facebook ones (those) are ones you want to stay away from."
