Things were feeling a little groovy in downtown Delphos Thursday evening as they time-warped back to the 70s for this year's Canal Days.

The festival is celebrating its 61st year and continues to be a place where family fun is the name of the game. Canal Days will officially open up Friday night, but people started the party a little early during Thursday's Toast to the City. Hundreds of people will turn out for the weekend-long event, and the money raised will stay right in the Delphos community.

“It brings in so much money and this year we purchased the lot we are on right now. We have moved everything to this lot, this where we want to put our amphitheater for all of our events. All the money from Canal Days goes to all of our improvements to the downtown,” said Chad Schrader, Delphos Canal Days Committee.

Some of the highlights of this year's festival include the Battle of the Businesses and the band “Brother Believe Me” on Friday. Saturday there is the cruise-in car show and the Cleveland band “Tricky Dick and the Cover-ups”. Then on Sunday, the festival wraps up with the 5-K run, the grand parade and “Kaitlyn Schmit and the Move” will be going on in the afternoon.
