The Allen County and Van Wert Republican Parties have appointed someone to fill an empty seat on the Delphos City Council.

After interviewing two qualified applicants, the committee picked Joseph Dray to fill the seat of former councilman Joe Martz, who resigned from the position in August after serving in the capacity for 10 years. Dray was chosen for his enthusiasm for the city and for his awareness of local issues.

"Quite honestly, he's done his homework," said Keith Cheney, Exec. Chair for the Allen County Republican Party. "He's kept abreast of what the current things are and the issues that are facing Delphos and he has some thought process to help out the City of Delphos get those things accomplished."

A life-long resident of Delphos, Dray is excited for an opportunity to help keep the community he loves moving forward.

"I've always had an interest in politics ever since I was young," said Dray. "I also want to support Mayor Gillespie and all the great things that he's doing throughout the town and community. I love the City of Delphos, I was born and raised here, and I just want to give back to the community.

Dray will be sworn into his seat by Mayor Josh Gillespie on Friday, October 4, 2018.
