Wednesday morning, crews were at Elida Elementary School holding their annual "Touch a Truck" event. The young students got a chance to see three trucks up close and even got a chance to work a fire hose. Firefighters say they enjoy talking with the kids and even get some interesting questions asked of them. They say it's important to let the children become acquainted with them.

"It's a lot of fun to see the look on their faces. They don't always get to see a fireman firsthand or a police officer or an EMT, so this is how they get to see it firsthand," said Lt. Lee Rosengarten, American Township Fire Department.

Elida has been holding the "Touch a Truck" event for at least 20 years.
